The Minister of Health and the Minister of Justice have appointed Sir John Gillen, former Lord Justice of Appeal, to undertake an independent review of the law and procedures relating to unfitness to plead and trials of fact in Northern Ireland. Sir John is keen to hear views from individuals, organisations and stakeholders on whether the current legal framework remains appropriate and whether reform is required. He would welcome evidence and comments from all interested parties, including those with lived experience, victims' representatives, legal professionals, healthcare professionals, advocacy groups and members of the public. Your responses will help inform the review's recommendations.
