    Summary

    In the Minster’s vision for the future of health and social care, ‘Health and Wellbeing 2026: Delivering Together’, published on 25 October 2016, she gave a commitment to embark on a consultation on the criteria for reconfiguring health and social care services.

    The Department of Health (DoH) have consulted on the proposed criteria to be used to assess the sustainability of health and social care services as recommended in the Expert Panel’s Report “Systems not Structures: Changing Health and Social Care”.

    Consultation description

    Formal public consultation was launched on the 11 November 2016 and ran for a series of 12 weeks until 03 February 2017. A total of 16 public meetings were held across Northern Ireland and participants had the opportunity to engage face to face with senior professional medical, nursing and policy staff from the DoH.

    In total there were 252 responses received from a broad range of stakeholders, one of which was a composite response from a community action group.

    This report summarises the responses to the consultation and sets out the Department’s response and next steps.
