Consultation description
On 27 October 2026, the Department of Health launched a targeted consultation among members of the infected and affected community across NI, to hear your views on the creation of a permanent memorial to all those impacted by the Infected Blood scandal.
This memorial is in response to Recommendation 2 of Sir Brian Langstaff’s report, that there should be permanent memorials in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
It is intended that the NI Memorial will be influenced by the ongoing work on a UK wide memorial, being taken forward by the Infected Blood Memorial Committee established by the Cabinet Office, but this is an opportunity for those impacted in Northern Ireland to have their say on the location and form such a memorial should take in NI.
The deadline for responding to the consultation is Friday 27 November 2026 and the Department are keen that as many members of the community as possible see this consultation and have a chance to put their views forward.
