Papers of temporary commissions

Papers of temporary commissions, committees and review bodies (including those relating to non-departmental public bodies) are always exempt from normal review periods.

Papers of temporary commissions

They should be dealt with immediately after the body has finished its work.

It is not necessary to wait until the papers reach the normal age for review.

Indeed, normal review could be impossible in the future given that staff within the body are likely to be stood down when it has finished its work.

The Secretary of the body should inform the Records Management Officer, the DHSSPS Departmental Information Manager (DIM) and the Public Records Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) when the body is thought to be drawing to a close.

Arrangements can then be made for the proper retention and disposal of records.
