The Northern Ireland Strategy for Tackling AMR (STAR) was published in 2012, and had a five year duration. STAR concerned human health only.
Five key areas for action were identified:
- Antimicrobial stewardship
- Monitoring antimicrobial usage and surveillance of resistance
- Professional education and practice
- Research and development
- Patient and public engagement and information
