National Transfer Scheme for Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children – Northern Ireland specific procedure

The National Transfer Scheme for Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children is a UK Government scheme to enable the planned transfer of an unaccompanied asylum seeking child from one local authority to another local authority in Great Britain – or a Health and Social Care Trust in Northern Ireland.

Details

All local authorities in Great Britain and Health and Social Care Trusts in Northern Ireland are subject to a direction under section 72(3) of the Immigration Act 2016 and are under a mandatory duty to comply with the National Transfer Scheme.

The purpose of this document is to provide advice and guidance to Health and Social Care Trusts in Northern Ireland and local authorities in Great Britain on the operation of the National Transfer Scheme in Northern Ireland and in particular the process to be followed when children are transferring to Northern Ireland under the scheme.
