  • Muckamore Abbey Hospital - Public Inquiry

    On the 8 September 2020 Minister Swann announced his intention to establish a Public Inquiry under the Inquiries Act 2005 into the allegations of abuse at Muckamore Abbey Hospital.  He said that he would consult with families and patients, current and former, on the terms and format of the Inquiry.  The Minister hosted a number of engagement events with families and patients, facilitated by the Patient and Client Council, between December 2020 and February 2021. 

    The final report is now published; it is also available in an easy read format and an audible version.

    On 30 June 2021 Minister Swann also announced Mr Tom Kark QC as Chair to the Inquiry.
