This report presents the latest estimates of life expectancy, healthy life expectancy and disability-free life expectancy for Northern Ireland. In addition, life expectancy estimates are presented for Trusts and Local Government Districts.

Figures may be subject to change

On 29th June 2023, the Northern Ireland Statistics & Research Agency (NISRA) released the ‘Rebased Population and Migration Estimates Northern Ireland (2011-2021)’. This revised series of population and sub-population figures for Northern Ireland replaces the old rolled-forward series which was based on the 2011 Census and was used in the production of statistics contained in the report below. DoH will be undertaking an exercise to update the back-series of health inequalities statistics accordingly, and this may lead to changes in some statistics for future reports.
