In the Minister of Health’s document ‘Health & Wellbeing 2026: Delivering Together’, published in October 2016, the Department of Health (DOH) undertook that by January 2017 it would: “Develop a comprehensive approach for addressing waiting lists which takes account of the ongoing work of the Health and Social Care Board, as well as the recommendations from the Expert Panel”.
The actions in the Plan are designed to improve access to services for patients, their families and carers, and to place Elective Care on a sustainable footing resulting in improved waiting times.
