This eHealth and Care Strategy sets out a range of measures for the increased use of digital technologies to support the delivery of health and care services between now and 2020.

Details

The Strategy is built around the key objectives of supporting people, sharing information, using information and analytics, fostering innovation, modernising the eHealth infrastructure and ensuring good governance.

Specific public-facing initiatives flowing from its implementation will include new services to provide for the booking of GP appointments and ordering of repeat prescriptions online, and a web portal to help people self-care and give them access to their own personal health records.

There are also plans to explore the potential for a fully integrated digital health and care record system, and to increase the capacity for mobile working for community staff.

The Strategy takes account of feedback received during the public consultation period which ended in January 2015.
