Competition for Chair of BSO Pharmaceutical Committee

The Department of Health is seeking to appoint a pharmacist to Chair the Pharmaceutical Committee of the Business Services Organisation (BSO).
The regional BSO provides a broad range of support functions for health and social care, bringing together services which are common to bodies or persons engaged in providing health or social services. The main role of the Pharmaceutical Committee is to consult and engage with practicing Community Pharmacists on the services provided by BSO regarding:
- Payments to Pharmaceutical Chemists;
- The accuracy of dispensing; and
- The testing of drugs and appliances.
Eligibility
The Chair must be a pharmacist registered with the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland, and must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the Terms of Service for Chemists.
The Chair must be committed to the principles and objectives of the health service. Applicants must show on their application form and if invited for interview, how they meet the following essential criteria: Setting Direction; Engaging People; and Delivering Results.
Period of Appointment
No longer than four years with no more than two terms of four years in a ten year period. It is expected that the successful candidate will take up post in December 2025.
Time Commitment
Maximum of eight days per annum inside and outside normal working hours.
Remuneration
Maximum daily attendance rate £400. Maximum allowable per half day £200.
Travelling expenses and other allowances are payable at the normal HSC rates and in accordance with the appropriate Departmental determination: Circular HSC (F) 24/2024 - Payment of Travelling and Other Allowances to Members (No. 2) Determination (Northern Ireland) 2024.
