Appointment of Five Non-Executive Members to the Health and Social Care Board (HSCB 2/19)

In 2015, the then Health Minister announced that the Health and Social Care Board (HSCB) would be closed and its functions would in the future be delivered by the Department of Health and the Public Health Agency.

However, given the current status of the Northern Ireland Assembly it has not been possible for the necessary legislation to be passed to allow for the closure of the HSCB.

Therefore, the timing for the anticipated closure date of the Health and Social Care Board is March 2022.

As the HSCB will continue to provide a vitally important role in the commissioning of health and social care for the foreseeable future, the appointment of Non-Executive Members to the Board of the HSCB is important.

Applications are invited for the following posts:

  • 3 Non-Executive Lay Members;
  • 1 Non-Executive Member with a medical background; and
  • 1 Non-Executive Member with a nursing background.

It is expected that the successful applicants will take up appointment from the end of March 2020 onwards.

The Department would encourage everyone who wishes to participate in public service and make a difference to the way in which health and social care services are delivered in Northern Ireland to submit an application form.  The Department would also welcome applications from those who have not previously held a public appointment.

The deadline for applications is 12 Noon on Friday 20 December 2019
