Health Minister Mike Nesbitt has congratulated people recognised in the Birthday Honours 2025 for their contribution to health and social care.

Among the recipients are those working across the Health and Social Care Trusts, including the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), and in the academic, voluntary and community sectors, as well as senior public officials.
The Minister said: “People who work in health and social care deserve our heartfelt thanks for everything they do and it’s fitting that they have been recognised in the Birthday Honours bestowed by His Majesty the King.
“All those awarded Honours make a hugely positive contribution to our society and I send my warmest congratulations to every recipient. Every citizen in Northern Ireland benefits from the dedication, professionalism and compassion of health and care staff. They are the best of us.”
In addition to those working in health and social care, Peter May, who has recently retired as Permanent Secretary at the Department of Health, has been made a Companion of the Order of the Bath.
The Minister added: “I am delighted that Peter May has received this well-deserved honour in recognition of his many years of dedicated service. He has been an outstanding public servant and I greatly valued his support and counsel while he was Permanent Secretary in my Department.
“I also send my congratulations to Christine Smith QC, Chair of the Urology Services Inquiry, who has been made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).”
