Consultation description

This targeted consultation aims to deliver on the Department’s original policy intent to complete compulsory registration of the social work and social care workforce(s) in Northern Ireland.  The original policy proposal was subject to a wider public consultation.  Following that consultation, roll out of registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council has been progressing on a phased priority basis.  The Department is seeking views on the draft amendment regulations that will complete compulsory registration for social care workers who work in domiciliary care, supported living and day care settings which aims to safeguard and strengthen public protection.
