    Summary

    The Bamford Review completed its work in 2007 and set out a vision for taking forward mental health services in Northern Ireland to enhance the dignity and human rights of some of the most vulnerable people in society, those living with a mental disorder or learning disability.

    Consultation description

    This consultation document outlines the Department's proposals, in response to the Bamford Review, to introduce a legislative framework for new mental capacity legislation and modernised mental health legislation in Northern Ireland, with an overarching set of human rights principles embedded in both.
