Consultation description
The Regulations were designed to improve controlled drug governance without hindering patient access to the treatment they needed. As far as possible the Regulations replicated those in force in England, Scotland and Wales and have not been subject to amendment until now. England and Scotland reviewed their equivalent legislation and a range of additional governance arrangements were introduced. These additional arrangements were considered in the context of Northern Ireland healthcare services and amendments proposed. The Department also used the proposed ammendments to update legislative references and to make other minor technical corrections.
Consultation opened on 26 January 2015. Closing date 01 May 2015.
Full details and draft regulations can be found in the consultation document.
