Consultation on draft Human Trafficking and Exploitation (Criminal Justice and Support for Victims) (Independent Guardian) Regulations (Northern Ireland)

Consultation opened on 10 September 2015. Closing date 06 November 2015.

Summary

DHSSPS sought views on draft Regulations made under section 21(5) of the Human Trafficking and Exploitation (Criminal Justice and Support for Victims) Act (Northern Ireland) 2015. The Act, which achieved Royal Assent in January 2015, makes provision for an Independent Guardian to be appointed for child victims and potential victims of human trafficking, as well as separated children. The draft Regulations specify the training and qualifications required for a person to be eligible for appointment as an independent guardian and the support to be provided for, and the supervision of, an independent guardian.
