The NIFRS Board is responsible for ensuring that the Fire & Rescue Service fulfils its statutory obligations. This includes providing overall strategic direction of the Fire & Rescue Service, having due regard to the policy and resources framework agreed with the Department; ensuring that high standards of corporate governance are observed at all times; operating within the statutory authority and within the limits of its delegated authority agreed with the Department, as well as in accordance with any other conditions relating to the use of public funds; and overseeing the achievement of performance objectives, agreed with the Department, by monitoring performance against agreed targets.
Essential Criteria for all applicants
Lay Members - There are no specific eligibility requirements for these posts.
District Council Member - Must be currently elected District Councillors.
Trade Union Member - Applicants for this post must be supported and endorsed by a relevant Trade Union or the NI Committee of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions.

Non-Executive Member: £6,141 per annum – Time Commitment 3 days per month
