Minister of Health
Mr Robbie Butler was appointed Minister of Health for Northern Ireland on 20 August 2026.
He was first elected as an Ulster Unionist Party Member of the Northern Ireland Assembly (MLA) in 2016. Before his appointment as Minister, Mr Butler previously held the role of Deputy Party Leader and Chief Whip. He chaired the DAERA Committee and was party spokesperson on mental health, and children and young people.
Prior to entering politics, Mr Butler served 16 years in the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service and 4 years with the Northern Ireland Prison Service.
