Summary

Housing adaptations are changes that are made to the home of a person with a disability to make it suitable for their needs and promote independent living. They can range from the re-siting of electrical sockets and cupboards to the installation of level access showers or building an extension.The Review has examined the current system of approval, the use of resources, and the delivery of housing adaptations in Northern Ireland on a cross tenure basis to maximise resources, ensure best value and equality of provision across health and social care trusts and housing providers.

Consultation description

The Department for Social Development (DSD) and the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety (DHSSPS) have responsibility for different aspects of housing adaptations and are seeking your views on the Inter-Departmental Review of Housing Adaptations Services Final Report and Action Plan 2016.

This consultation is being coordinated by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) on behalf of both Departments. The Inter-Departmental Review of Housing Adaptations Services Final Report and Action Plan together with the consultation response document are available on the NIHE website. The consultation closes on 19 April 2016.
