Proposal to enable dental hygienists and dental therapists to supply and administer specific medicines under exemptions

Summary

The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, in relation to England and Wales and Scotland, and in conjunction with the Department of Health NI in relation to Northern Ireland (pursuant to Section 45(1) of the MMD Act), is seeking views on the proposal to amend the HMRs to allow dental hygienists and dental therapists to supply and administer certain medicines under exemptions. The proposed change will support dental hygienists and dental therapists in providing the right care to patients to reduce unnecessary delays where it is safe and appropriate to do so. The joint consultation will run for 4 weeks, and will close on the 15 September 2023.
